ATP Year Ending Championships

November 21st, 2009

ESPN- (article from the  ESPN tennis column)

The ATP World Tour’s year-end championships shift to London this year, and the No. 1 ranking is nominally on the line, although Rafael Nadal’s chances of overtaking Roger Federer are somewhat remote.

If they do happen to meet, it will be just the third time they will have played this season, which started with their tense Australian Open final. I have a similar video on my site and I thought I would include it on my blog as well. This version has catchy music while you watch. It gives me something to think about. How will tennis look in 50 years or so? The game of tennis might totally change. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

November 1st, 2009

A couple of days a go I predicted that we would have an all Williams Final. Guess what?  Today these two sisters squared off against each other in the WTA Championship Finals.

In the Semi Finals Serena faced Caroline Woznacki who had to retire yet again. Caroline also had to retire in her round robin match against Radwanska due to an injury.  This made Serena Williams undefeated going into the finals.

Then we have Venus who barely squeezed her way into the Semi-Finals. If it wasn’t for Kuznetsova’s win as I mentioned before, it would be Elena in the Semi-Finals not Venus. Nevertheless, Venus faced a slightly shaky Jelena Jankovic in her post final match. But, it was closer than one would have thought. Both players showed why they were one of the original top 8 qualifiers in this tournament. Venus came out with the win 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 in a tough 3 set match. » Read more: I Might Be Psychic
